Finding Your Fitness Groove

Are you tired of restrictive diets and crazy workout plans that leave you feeling exhausted and ready to quit? If so, it's time to find your fitness groove. That’s right, just like Emperor Kuzko, it’s time for you to find your very own groove. Getting in shape and achieving your fitness goals requires time, consistency, and a sustainable routine that works for you.

The unfortunate truth is, there's no one-size-fits-all approach to fitness. What works for your friend or your favorite celebrity may not work for you. The key to success is finding a routine that is both effective and enjoyable, that fits into your lifestyle. This means taking into account your preferences, your schedule, and your fitness goals.

One of the most common mistakes people make when starting a fitness journey is diving in headfirst, without a clear plan or strategy. This can lead to burnout and frustration when results don't come as quickly as expected. To avoid this, it's important to take a step back and assess your goals and your current fitness level. From there, you can start to build a sustainable routine that takes into account your strengths, but also your weaknesses.

Here are some tips for creating a sustainable workout routine that works for you:

  1. Start small: Seriously. Like really small. Don't try to do too much too soon. Start with a few simple exercises or activities that you enjoy and gradually build up from there.

  2. Mix it up: If you want to train for a specific purpose, then you need to do the same workouts consistently…but if you just want to get started/back into it then have some fun with it. Try different things and see what sticks.

  3. Set realistic goals: Don't set yourself up for failure by trying to transform your body in 75 days. Set achievable goals that will help you stay motivated and track your progress.

  4. Find a workout buddy: Working out with a friend or family member can help keep you accountable and motivated.

  5. Celebrate your successes: Don't forget to celebrate your progress along the way. Whether it's reaching a new milestone or fitting into your favorite jeans, take time to recognize your accomplishments and use them as motivation to keep going.

By finding a workout routine that is sustainable and enjoyable, you'll be well on your way to achieving your fitness goals without the stress and frustration that comes with restrictive diets and unsustainable workouts. Remember, it's a journey, not a race, and the key is to find the way that works best for you.

Transformation Tuesday

Social Media transformation stories are ruining your relationship with health and fitness.

You've probably seen countless before-and-after transformation pictures on social media. Maybe you've even been inspired to make some changes in your own life. But before you get too caught up in the hype, it's important to understand that these transformations can be misleading. And sometimes, downright fraudulent.

The truth is, many of the transformations you see on social media are not realistic or sustainable. They may be the result of crash diets, extreme exercise routines, or even photo editing.

On Mind Pump, a popular fitness podcast, the guys have talked about this extensively. They explain that these transformations a: often come at a cost - sacrificing health, happiness, and even relationships and b: are sometimes complete bullshit. I’ve linked to the episode below. If you’re going to listen to a fitness podcast this is the one I’d recommend. Sal’s political takes drive me bonkers, but you can’t win em all.

It's easy to get caught up in the idea that a complete transformation is the only way to achieve your fitness goals. But the reality is that small, sustainable changes over time are often the most effective. This is the approach that Mind Pump advocates for - focusing on improving your health and well-being in a way that is enjoyable and sustainable.

So the next time you come across a dramatic transformation picture on social media, take it with a grain of salt. Instead, focus on making small, sustainable changes in your own life that will lead to long-term success.

What are your thoughts on social media transformations? Do you think they can be misleading? Do you think we’re off base with this one? Let us know by replying to this email.
