Friday Finds: Placebos, Attitude Adjustments, & Alcohol

The best of the internet from this past week

Welcome back to the Daily Dumbbell, we aren’t the smartest health and fitness newsletter, or the funniest, but luckily we’ve got that dog in us.

And also we would absolutely argue about being the funniest. We take that part back. We are the funniest. But that might just be the dog talking.

Anyway, that’s enough of that.

Let’s dive in!

A Quote

“Attitude precedes outcome.”

From James Clear’s 3-2-1 Newsletter.

We're all on the proverbial treadmill chasing those elusive outcomes and solutions to our problems, right? But what if the real juice lies not in some secret formula, but simply in a shift of our attitude?

That’s right. A cheeky mindset shift can act like swapping your plain ol' black coffee for a triple espresso with a shot of attitude!

Say you have these grand proclamations like, "I need abs!" or "I need to lose weight!"

Now imagine this: You've got your calorie goals nailed, powered up with enough protein to make Popeye jealous, and you’ve been hitting the gym like a boss for a whole year.

Are you seriously telling me you won't slay those goals? Girl, please! You'd be conquering heights like Sasha Fierce in no time. (Thats a Beyoncé reference in case anyone’s Mom was unsure).

That's the game-changing pivot, folks. Changing your mind changes your actions. It's the reason why change ain't always a walk in the park. These transformations are more marathon than sprint. They demand you face the dragon of self-limiting beliefs and come out victorious!

(Quick Reminder: We slay looks not Dragons here)

Sometimes, it's not just one dragon—you might be up against a whole squad of 'em. There might be more than one self limiting belief that’s holding you back. But guess what? The sooner you embrace that truth and level up your mindset muscles, the faster you'll rocket towards your wildest aspirations.

A Stat

Theres a lot of argument and debate about junk food, sugar, and seed oils being poison.

A quick reminder from time to time that alcohol is actually poison. Being responsible for 20% of all deaths from 20-49 is madness.

An Article

Really fascinating piece about what’s actually in the placebos used in drug trials.

Happy Friday!

Congratulations! You made it!

Hope you had an amazing week. Good luck this weekend with whatever you’re hoping for. We’ll see you back here on Monday for another fantastically motivating piece of publishing.
